Frequently Asked Questions and Policies About the UP House

Important Reminder About Our Home: This Is Our Real Family Home

It is a Disney-authorized replica UP House. We have some expectations and guidelines to keep our family safe and keep the magic going for you.

  • Private residence
  • Offer limited reservations
  • Respect for family/privacy
  • Respect for our neighborhood – do not loiter and/or leave trash
  • All photoshoots are supervised
  • Any inappropriate behavior or violation of rules will result in a photoshoot to end without refund and the guests to leave immediately
  • We are not open to walk-ins/tours
  • Submitting a photoshoot inquiry does not guarantee booking
  • We reserve the right to stop offering these photoshoot experiences at any time if we feel like visitors are being too disrespectful

 

How long have you lived in the UP House?

  • We moved in the beginning of January 2012; although the process of buying our home began in October of 2011

Are you the only owners of the UP House?

  • Yes, we are the first and only owners. We purchased directly from the builder, Bangerter Homes. Blair Bangerter is a fantastic craftsman and builder – we highly recommend him

 

Reservation Policies:

Can we stop by and take photos of the UP House?

  • We kindly ask that all extended visits (longer than 5 mins) and photoshoots be reserved in advance to respect our home, family, and neighborhood. Please stay outside our fence-line and do not block the flow of traffic at any time. Please be mindful where you park and not block driveways, mailboxes, or park in no-parking zones

Do I need a reservation?

  • Yes, no walk-ins. This is our family home so every visit affects our family’s schedule and home life

How far in advance should I book?

  • Advance booking is encouraged because availability is limited. I also need time to clean and prep for all photoshoots

Is a deposit required?

  • Yes, it is 50% of the reservation. We refer to this as a Booking Fee.
  • 50% deposit is non-refundable and the date is non-transferrable
  • The remaining balance is due by 8 AM MT the day before session

What happens if I’m late?

  • Late arrivals reduce session time (Ex: 5 minutes late, your session will be 25 minutes instead of 30 minutes)

 

Guest Rules:

Maximum guest count?

  • Up to 6 including photographer

Are children allowed?

  • Yes – but supervised at all times

Are pets allowed?

  • Only with prior approval
  • Only for the outdoor portion

Can we bring food/drinks?

  • No food/drinks indoors. For an outdoor session, any food or beverage needs prior authorization

Shoes inside?

  • We don’t wear shoes inside our home. Shoes off or shoe covers indoors

Can we move furniture/decor?

  • No

Are drones allowed?

  • No drones – it feels too invasive. Thank you for respecting this

Smoking?

  • No smoking or vaping on property

Can we use balloons?

  • Yes – but allow yourself setup time if needed
  • Please do not tie balloons on our property
  • Do NOT release balloons – we care for the environment. Please let us know if you need us to properly dispose of them

Are Gender Reveals allowed?

  • Yes, but these must be pre-approved with all details. We will not approve any that litter the environment. Please be upfront and reasonable in what you’d like to do. Please remember this is our home

When does your holiday décor go up?

  • We typically decorate on the same schedule as Disney Parks. We decorate a lot for Halloween Time and the Holidays. We may have decorations up for other holidays too. We do not remove any holiday decor for photoshoots and access to the front lawn areas may be limited if safety is a concern

Can we recreate scenes from UP during our photoshoot?

  • Yes, you can pose for your pictures just like the movie. I suggest Disneybounding in the UP characters and adding on the ‘Optional Guided Photo Assistance Add-On’ for your photoshoot; I can help make sure you get all the magical shots from the movie

 

Personal Use vs. Commercial / Brand / Media Use

Can I post or share my photos on social media?

  • All photoshoots are booked as personal use only. As long as they are for personal use and not brand or commercial use, yes.

What if I want to promote my business or a brand using your UP House?

  • Any businesses/brand use require prior approval. Please contact us with all the details and we will get you pricing if we want our home included in that project.

Any commercial/ brand use involving our home requires separate agreement and fee.

 

Indoor Experience Expectations

  • Indoor access is ONLY front room, the area just inside the front door, and the first four steps on the staircase
  • The indoor portion of The Adventure Book Experience, is the first half of your session. Once that timeframe has ended, you will not re-enter our home. Your remaining session time will be out front
  • All photoshoots are supervised 
  • No free roaming through house
  • Seasonal decor may vary and will not be removed for photoshoots
  • Décor cannot be rearranged
  • Do not sit on television or side tables
  • You will be charged a replacement fee if anything is damaged or broken during your photoshoot – please be mindful and supervise your children.

 

Neighborhood Respect

We have lovely neighbors and appreciate every one of them:

  • Please do not block driveways or mailboxes
  • Please do not park in ‘no parking’ zones – your car may be towed
  • Respect neighbors
  • Keep noise levels low
  • Do not block the flow of traffic for your photos
  • Do not loiter if you are stopping by for a quick photo or after your session
  • Do not leave any trash
  • If your balloons get stuck in a tree – get it, don’t leave your trash
